How CISHA operates as a registered non-profit, protects our community, and fulfils our duty of care.

Science of Self-Knowledge (CISHA) is incorporated as a Canadian non-share, not-for-profit corporation. These guidelines summarize the policies that govern our charitable activities, volunteer network, digital properties, and community engagements worldwide.

Organizational Structure

Transparent governance keeps CISHA accountable to regulators, donors, and seekers who rely on our programs.

Not-for-profit incorporation

CISHA operates pursuant to the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act and maintains charitable status with the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Annual filings, financial statements, and board resolutions are submitted on time and stored for a minimum of seven years.

Board & fiduciary duty

Volunteer directors provide strategic oversight, approve budgets, and ensure donations advance the charitable objects described in our letters patent. Conflicts of interest are disclosed in writing and directors recuse themselves where needed.

Regulatory Compliance

Our policies align with Canadian federal and provincial requirements, as well as the jurisdictions we serve.

Fundraising & receipting

Official donation receipts follow CRA guidance (IT-110R3) and list our legal name, business number, and the eligible amount. Restricted gifts are tracked separately and disbursed only for the donor’s stated purpose.

Volunteer & participant safety

Retreats, online satsangs, and public outreach events adhere to venue rules, applicable public-health directives, and CISHA’s Code of Conduct. Incident reports are retained and reviewed quarterly.

Use of CISHA Properties

Respectful use of our content and facilities ensures that the teachings remain accessible to all.

  • Recordings, transcripts, and course materials are provided for personal spiritual study. Commercial reproduction requires prior written consent.
  • Logos and program names may not be altered or used to endorse outside products or events without CISHA approval.
  • Onsite photography or livestreaming at CISHA gatherings must be cleared with event leads to protect attendee privacy.
